Introduction- Who am I

Hello, my name is Conor Mansfield and I am a current BBS Student at SETU Waterford in my final year. Firstly, a little bit about myself, I am the youngest of three with an older brother and sister. I’ve lived in Waterford my whole life and even completed my recent work placement in EY’s Waterford office.

I recently attended my first lecture in digital Economy and this has given me some new insight on the information systems I used throughout my time there. EY has streamlined a lot of its information systems under one canopy called EY Canvas. This program was specifically designed for EY and is key in the group audit practiced by EY. Throughout my time there were a few small glitches with the system both with the benefit of the system being internally run it allowed fast and easy fixing

As well as this centralised audit system they had several smaller systems built into company laptops given to each employee. This allowed employees to access all the necessary software without any download or installation. Another benefit of the Company laptop system was that the laptop was capable of handling the massive amount of software used for different tasks in the audit

EY is a massive company so the investment in this software is clearly a massive benefit to the company in several to name a few It will decrease the time it takes to audit, it will improve staff morale as the systems will improve the effectiveness they can perform the task and finally it will save the company money on potential using a third party to provide the multitude of services it requires

In a personal sense, I do believe having these systems in place made the placement easier and more enjoyable and I’m sure with the further insight I will gain from this module it will become much clearer how much these systems can benefit a company
